You don't need special talent to learn languages. I believe that it takes a certain amount of passion, knowledge, and willpower. Polygots have the passion for learning languages. Linguists have the willpower to tread through the difficult beginning stages of languages. Yes, they are trained to do so, but they still have to use those common, everyday techniques of studying and learning languages.
English can be easy, and so can Japanese. As corny as it may sound, it can be as easy as crossing a bridge. All it takes is that first step, a little bit of courage, and the willpower to get to the other side.
